As for real-world HCI-related research, we are applying AR, VR, AI, and SNS to research human interfaces and various support systems and support applications. For example, a risk avoidance experience system on a ski slope applying VR, a language learning support system using VR, and a building design support system applying machine learning GAN.

In recent years, the use of open source software (OSS) has become an important or indispensable tool in system development, where high quality, low cost, and short delivery times are required. The Open Source Software Engineering Laboratory is working on "visualization" of OSS development and studying "automation" technologies to improve productivity and quality so that OSS can be "safely" utilized in system development.
