Our mission
Wakayama University, the only national university in the prefecture, supports the region and is supported by the region and strives to improve the sustainability of society. Our postgraduate program aims to nurture personal qualities and principles enabling collaborative problem-solving through deep understanding and knowledge; in research, we will contribute to national and global development through creative research activities utilising the rich history, natural environment, economic and cultural heritage of the Kii Peninsula and ‘Kuroshio Culture’.
The Graduate School of Tourism, will advance it’s mission, responding to the current trends and the dramatic development of tourism in both quality and quantity in the 21st century. Through theoretical analysis and interdisciplinary perspectives, we will nurture leadership with a high level of professional knowledge, flexible thinking, global perspectives and imagination.
Research education aims
- To gain expertise and leadership in a diverse range of tourism fields, with a deep appreciation of the social significance of tourism applying a high level of interdisciplinary knowledge.
