In accordance with the Curriculum Policy for undergraduate courses at Wakayama University, the Faculty of Economics offers an educational curriculum aimed at enabling students to fulfil the requirements of its Diploma Policy
- The Faculty provides a broad range of subjects in liberal arts, foreign languages, and health and physical education, which allow students to appreciate the importance of ethics, and education in liberal arts and communication.
- The Faculty offers fundamental subjects in economics and statistics, which allow students to acquire the required knowledge in economics
- The Faculty provides educational programs which cover several academic disciplines, such as economic theory, business administration, accounting, informatics, and law. These educational programs allow students to deepen their knowledge in social sciences from interdisciplinary perspectives.
- The Faculty provides an engaging environment in which students can set their own learning objectives, make their own learning plans, revise and confirm their own learning progress. This environment allows students to develop the inner ability to learn, create, and apply knowledge either independently or with interaction with concerned parties
- The Faculty provides classes, seminars, and practice sessions with within an educational environment based on small numbers of students and cooperation from related parties from the society in order to enhance the individual ability of students to engage in dialogue and creative thinking
- The Faculty allows students to develop their own learning objectives and plans with the continuous support from educational mentors and career counsellors, who monitor the learning progress path of each student and provide the appropriate advice and customized assistance
- The Faculty evaluates the academic performance of students both on individual and collective basis. The evaluation methods include final examinations, mid-term examinations, and practical and oral tests, which are consistent with the overall objectives and expected student achievements set for each course. The appropriate evaluation methods are examined by the committee of educational affairs, which monitors also the academic progress and achievements with the necessary assistance from the educational support staff
